The Soul of Silver: A Note from Midyat

There is a particular quiet in a silversmith’s workshop — the soft hiss of the flame, the faint ring of metal, the stillness of total concentration. In Midyat, this quiet has sounded the same for centuries. Here, telkari (filigree) is not a trend to be rediscovered but a craft that never stopped. Each Erdobia piece carries a little of that calm into the world: proof that some things are still worth making slowly, and by hand.

The Language of Our Motifs

Every symbol we work into silver carries a story. The tulip is a centuries-old emblem of abundance and divine love in Anatolian art. The evil eye is a quiet guardian, worn for protection across cultures and generations. The Vav letter, curved like a bowing figure, speaks of humility and the meeting of the earthly and the eternal. When you choose a motif, you are not only choosing a shape — you are choosing what you wish to carry with you.

Caring for Your Sterling Silver

Genuine 925 sterling silver ages beautifully, but a little care keeps it luminous. Store each piece separately in a soft pouch, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Put your jewelry on last — after perfume, lotion and hairspray — and remove it before swimming, showering or sleeping. To restore its shine, polish gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Worn often and cared for kindly, your silver will stay with you for a lifetime and beyond.
