Most inexpensive gold jewellery is plated over brass or a nickel alloy, which is what causes green marks and reactions. Ours is plated over sterling silver, so even where the plating eventually thins you are left with precious metal underneath, not base metal against your skin.
To make the finish last: apply perfume and lotion first and let them dry, remove pieces before swimming or the gym, and wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing. Never use silver dip on plated jewellery — it removes the gold layer in seconds.
